With all the technology and advancement in sports these days, competition is at an all-time high and athletes are playing a lot harder and a lot faster. Unfortunately, athletes are also pushing the limits of their bodies which means that they need extra support if they are feeling any type of pain or are recuperating from an injury. This is where the Shock Doctor Knee Brace 875 comes into play.

This brace was designed for athletes who suffer from:

  • Medial and lateral knee conditions that effect the stability of the knee joint
  • Moderate to major ligament sprains
  • Muscle strains
  • Unstable joints

One of the greatest features of this brace is that it was built to withstand rigorous activities. The top-of-the-line stitching, combined with the patella support finishing and the Lycra material makes this brace one of the most durable in its class.

The brace has a dual hinge and X-Fit straps which gives athletes ultimate knee support and protection. It also has inherent therapeutic benefits (such as warmth and healing effects) because of the N-Tex air flow technology at the back of the knee. Last but not least, and a must for all serious athletes, the material was designed with Integrated Antimicrobial Technology so it doesn’t hold onto nasty, moldy odor like many other sports apparel do.

The finger tabs are also a nice touch because they give you a better grip when putting it on.

A far as the not so nice things about this brace, there are only a few. The biggest complaint is the size of the brace. When you order it, it is recommended that you go to one size bigger. As per the manufacturer’s warning: “Item runs 1/2 to 1 full size small based on individual expectations and personal preference of product compression level. When considering the size to order, ordering one size larger is recommended.”

Another thing you should be aware of with this brace is that there is a “break-in” period. I can’t say how long that is because it is different for every person, however do keep in mind that the brace will most likely not feel comfortable the first few times you wear it. One last thing, don’t expect to wear the brace for an entire day. Although it is comfortable, I wouldn’t rate breathability as one of its best features. After a few hours, you will definitely want to take it off for a while to let your leg breath.

All in all, the Shock Doctor 875 Ultra Knee Support is a great choice if you are into more rigorous sports and want/need the added support and protection. You will definitely be getting a lot of “bang for your buck.”.

What Others Are Saying

“An Orthopedist perscribed a knee supporter (I believe made in Germany) for my menisus tear , trying to avoid surgery, and I used it during sports. Every now and then, I would feel another tear while wearing it. Since I have this product, my knee is pefectly stable while wearing it, with no lack of motion. although many people said, order onw size up, I followed the sizing instructions and went with the reccomended size. I could see how people thought it was too small, but by loosening the straps completely and removing them from the slots before pulling it on, it comes on easily, and after strapping it all up i feel very secure.” – Amazon

“Great support all around but definatly sized small. What ever size you are thinking about getting move up one. There is a sizing guide on the back of the packaging that I didn’t see on the Amazon site. Basically you measure the circumference of your leg 2″ below your knee cap and small is 12.25-13.25 inch, M is 13-14 inch, L is 13.75-14.75 XL 14.5 -15.5 and XLL 15.25-16.25. I was going to get the XL but after reading reviews about the sizing purchased the XXL and am glad I did. Fits great, thought it wasn’t going to fit at first and had to really pull in on but it loosened up a little and not is perfect.” – Amazon
